Hierarchy In Animals

It should not be surprising to find hierarchy prevalent among animal species. After all, hierarchy is the most pervasive social force governing humans (even though most people ignore it).

And indeed we do find forms of hierarchy in virtually every species in the animal kingdom. Note the intriguing video above about a natural hierarchy developing amongst a group of dogs. It’s interesting to see how closely it mirrors human hierarchies, including Alpha Pack defensive behaviors and a God/Apex/Alpha/beta structure much like I have outlined.
