In June of 2016, one year after I started this site, I met an 18-year-old boy through it. He read I am an English major (which he wanted to be), and we became friends. Six months later, I found out he was in Syria and barely surviving.
I set out to rescue him, which I did in 2017. I hid him in Malaysia because that was our only choice. I paid for everything. While he was there, I got throat cancer and nearly died. Of course, I didn’t die … and in 2019 I finally got him to safety in Australia where he lives today.
Long-time readers of this site know him as “Baby Boy”. He’s basically my son now, and no real father has ever loved their son more.
Today was Baby Boy’s birthday, capping a ten-year saga of the lowest lows and highest highs.
But today also happens to be the official end of my probation after a nearly six-year nightmare journey through the injustice system. I’m finally FREE once more!
Huge dreams are gathering on the horizon, and every one of them is now possible. There is a lot of work ahead, but I think you all know I’m not afraid of hard work.
But the end result will be a literal dream come true: my son in my arms as we explore the world together!
What once seemed “impossible” will become not only possible, but REALITY.
I’m ready! Are you?
Let’s go!
