However, I counter this way: I don’t think Master Lorenzo means this facial to be playful, and it certainly isn’t meant to be loving. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be discussing it in the planning stages; he would’ve just done it in the moment.
I think Master Lorenzo wants to use humiliation to bring Master Jose to heel, but I don’t understand why that has to happen. Master Jose idolizes Master Lorenzo. Why does this method of subjugation need to be utilized?
I liken the situation between Master Jose and Master Lorenzo to a fan who is deeply enthralled with a celebrity. Every day the fan cherishes everything about the celebrity. The fan saves every penny until he can travel to meet the celebrity. And when the fan finally meets the celebrity face-to-face, the celebrity spits in the fan’s face and walks away. Can you understand the heartbreak and disappointment in that moment??
I think Master Joe makes a compelling argument, but I still stick to my guns on this because it’s clearly upsetting Master Jose. It’ll only cause damage that simply doesn’t need to be caused in the first place.
But regardless, I’m always happy to hear from Master Joe, even when he’s (gently) reprimanding me! I’m sure the reprimand would hurt much more in person!
