When we were boys and young Men, we were loving and affectionate with each other. We hugged and snuggled and expressed our feelings openly and freely. There was no judgement about it. We roughhoused just as much, but affection was always beneath it all.

What happens to that?

I think in the past it was society enforcing restrictions on what “proper” conduct should be between Men. The homosexual label was slapped on a wide variety of intimate expressions, and Men would quickly be ostracized for being a “fag” just for hugging another Man too long.

But I think a change is in the air.

Today’s frat culture seems to be embracing Male affection in new ways that seem intent to flip the script on those restrictions that held Men back in the past.

Notice this absolutely adorable video of two college-aged Men kissing and snuggling and expressing their love for each other:

What might the world look like if more Men could openly love each other like this?

It brings to mind a famous scene from CALL ME BY YOUR NAME in which Elio’s father admits to wanting such closeness with another Man, but “something always held him back”.

I think that video is beautiful, and I hope those two stay close friends always! But more than that, I hope more Men ponder over the lesson it teaches!
