The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the greatest rock musical of all time. Tim Curry’s charismatic entrance in that 1975 film instantly transformed an entire generation and officially put “the gay agenda” on the map with straight people.
That landmark film was based on a theatrical musical written by Richard O’Brien (and also starred Curry) that was so successful that it outgrew two theaters and finally forced its way onto movie screens, where it flopped badly at first before becoming a midnight sensation that continues to this day.
In my mind, there is no way to replace Tim Curry’s transcendent performance, by turns sexy, comedic, and terrifying. It was an immediately-iconic role that followed him throughout his life. Some people have tried to wear those heels in his stead, but all have failed miserably, most notably Laverne Cox (an actual transsexual) in an awful television remake.
But I was quite impressed with this performance above taken from the new Broadway revival. Luke Evans plays Frank-n-Furter in a way that tributes Curry while adding his own spin.
I would definitely watch it. I might even bring some rice.
Back in the day it was extremely rare that mainstream porn would feature the word “faggot”. In fact, it was rare to have exclusively Dom/sub or Alpha/faggot scenes in porn without reciprocity.
